name: Carmen Stephens
institution: University of Colorado College of Nursing
Carmen Stephens has had an eclectic nursing career that has allowed both acute care and community health to be combined in various fashions. The love of “aging well” began with a Gerontology Traineeship at the Langdon Center on Aging in 2015-16 focusing on fall prevention in long term care for persons 65 and over. This work then became a training for community folks to learn about “fall prevention.” Along with certification as a nurse educator, Dr. Stephens is a certified family life educator with the National Council on Family relations. When not teaching fall prevention or being actively involved with nursing students Carmen walks outdoors, volunteers with medical clinics and participates in SIGMA nursing honor society.
